I am selling a vintage early edition of the Hurricane Standard estate briar pipe with Bakelite wind cap by Nutt Products Ltd. Rare opportunity to buy an early edition of this spectacular pipe model.

The most amazing part of the pipe is the wind cap. The cap swivels toward the smoker. The plastic wind cap is indistinguishable from the sandblasted briar bowl. A gentle tapping on the cap with a fingernail will help to identify the plastic (it sound differently than the wood). Modern hurricane pipes have a very pronounced plastic wind cap.

The pipe is most likely made for Orlik. The markings on the pipe are as follows:

1. The Hurricane Standard (word "Hurricane" is half worn)
2. London made
3. Made in England
4. H 23

The pipe is 3" long, 2" tall, bowl diameter is 1 3/8" (measured by the thickest walls).

Now the bad news. The pipe was heavily smoked and is pretty caked inside. Decades of use revealed the weakness in the pipe design. There is a see-through crack on the bowl on the side under the the cap. There is another deep crack in the same place on the other side of the bowl. It looks like heat cracks the thin, shaved-off sides of the briar bowl. There can be minor cracks under the caked ashes that are not visible now. Original stem is missing. The wind cap is in excellent condition.

This pipe is ideal for a smoking pipe enthusiast capable to restore briar cracks.
