(Everclear is the brand)  It is 190 proof or 95% alcohol by volume.  I will not put anything in my customer's  pipes that I would not want in my mouth.Bowl reaming-There is a buildup of ash, unburned tobacco, oil, etc. on the walls of the bowl of the pipe.  This is called cake.  This cake layer helps prevent burning through the bottom and sides of a briar pipe.  It is generally recommended to keep the cake at the thickness of a US dime (about 1/16-1/20 of an inch or 1.5mm.)  That is what I ream the cake to in the pipes I restore.I restore all briar pipes.  This is a hobby and not a business.  It is a fun hobby!  Any profit I receive is donated to Wounded Warrior Foundation for our wounded Veterans.  I am a Veteran and all Veterans thank you for your purchase. This is my grading system for pipes as to their condition:New (unused)-factory freshGood (used)-burn marks on rim of bowl, no bite marks on stemExtra Fair (used)-pipe with some burn marks on rim of bowl, minor bite marks on stemFair (used)-pipe with some burn marks on rim of bowl, some bite marks, cosmetic blemishes on pipe I restore all pipes before I sell them.  They are reamed, cleaned and sanitized.  I polish the bowl and stem and honey coat bowls inside.  If there are any cracks, I repair them and note they have been repaired and tested and show a picture of them.   Two good sources for pipe information is Wickipedia and Pipedia.
